Molecular subclasses of high-grade glioma: prognosis, disease progression, and neurogenesis

(Submitter supplied) Novel prognostic subclasses of high-grade astrocytoma are identified and discovered to resemble stages in neurogenesis. One tumor class displaying neuronal lineage markers shows longer survival, while two tumor classes enriched for neural stem cell markers display equally short survival. Poor prognosis subclasses exhibit either markers of proliferation or of angiogenesis and mesenchyme. Analysis of gene expression data is described in Phillips et al., Cancer Cell, 2006. more...

Gene Set Enrichment Analysis reveals lineage relationships between mouse and human gliomas and identifies stem cells and PNET as distinct entities

(Submitter supplied) Murine and human genome-wide microarray expression profiles (including GSE19404) were compared using Partek and Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA) in order to identify similarities. A murine PNET-like tumour by morphology was found to resemble human ATRT, whereas experimental glioma resembled a particular human glioblastoma subclass.

Expression data from five primary human glioblastomas (frozen surgical resection) and one non-neoplastic adult brain (frozen autopsy tissue)

(Submitter supplied) DNA hypomethylation could lead to activation of alternate promoters in GBM. We profiled DNA methylation and H3K4me3 genome-wide, and also performed expression and copy number analysis on the same samples In this dataset, we include all expression data obtained for five GBMs and one normal brain. Expression profiling of primary glioma samples

(Submitter supplied) Background: Signaling by receptor tyrosine kinases (RTK) is frequently dysregulated in gliomas. Inter-individual variability in the causes for dysregulated RTK signaling may have hampered the efficacy of targeted therapies. Using gene expression modules around key regulators in the RAS-RAF-MEK-MAPK cascade and in the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase-AKT pathways, we developed a “RMPA” clustering scheme to distinguish gliomas with varying extents of RTK signaling. more...
