Title |
Genome-wide gene expression profiles of 14 paired (normal and varicose) vein samples from the patients with varicose vein disease. |
Organism |
Homo sapiens |
Experiment type |
Expression profiling by array
|
Summary |
To identify genes whose products are involved in the formation of a pathological phenotype of varicose veins, we attempted to analyze the transcriptome of their constituent cells and compare it to the transcriptome of normal veins from the same patient. We identified a number of genes of extracellular matrix remodeling and cell-cell communication significantly changing gene expression status in disease condition.

Overall design |
7 pairs (14) of RNA samples of varicose and normal veins were tested on the gene expression beadchips.
