Anti-fatigure properties of Sasa quelpaertensis leaf extracts in mice

(Submitter supplied) The study aimed the effects of Sasa quelpaertensis leaf hot water extract (SQH) on anti-fatigue function and the global gene expression pattern in muscle tissue. When rat skeletal muscle cells were cultured in hypoxic condition, the levels of lactate and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) was increased approximately more than 2-fold, but SQH decreased effectively these levels. Thus, we assessed the exercise and fatigue recovery function using several physical biomarkers such as glycogen, lactate and so on in high intensity exercise mice. more...

The effects of Zoledronate on human peripheral blood mononuclear cells

(Submitter supplied) Zoledronate is well known to act on osteoclasts to inhibit bone resorption.Zoledronate is administrated intravenously in clinical use, however, actions of zoledronate on cells in blood circulation are not fully understood. To understand its actions of human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (h-PBMC), we performed gene expression profiling in zoledronate-treated h-PBMC.

The role of the Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 homolog of the circadian clock output regulator RpaA in day-night transitions

(Submitter supplied) Like many other organisms, cyanobacteria exhibit rhythmic gene expression with a period length of 24 hours to adapt to daily environmental changes. In the model organism Synechococcus elongatus PCC 7942 the central oscillator consists of three proteins: KaiA, KaiB and KaiC and utilizes the histidine kinase SasA and its response regulator RpaA as output-signaling pathway. Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 contains two additional homologs of the kaiB and kaiC genes. more...

Identification of candidate genes for generalized tonic–clonic seizures in Noda Epileptic Rat

(Submitter supplied) The Noda epileptic rat (NER) exhibits generalized tonic–clonic seizures (GTCS). A genetic linkage analysis demonstrated two GTCS-associated loci, Ner1 on Chr 1 and Ner3 on Chr 5. In single-locus congenic lines, neither wild-type Ner1 nor Ner3 allele suppressed GTCS, but both wild-type alleles suppressed GTCS when they were combined in double-locus congenic lines. Global expression analysis showed that Cckbr and St5 locating within Ner1 and Phf24 locating within Ner3 were significantly downregulated. more...

Development of chemically modified peptide targeting BIG3-PHB2 interaction on estrogen-dependent breast cancer

(Submitter supplied) Our previous studies demonstrated that specific inhibition of the BIG3-PHB2 complex, which is indispensable for estrogen (E2)-signaling activation, using ERAP, a dominant-negative peptide inhibitor, leads to the suppression of E2-dependent breast cancer cell growth in vitro and in vivo. However, duration of its effect is very short for clinical use. Here, we developed the chemically modified ERAP using stapling methods (stERAP; stapled ERAP) to improve duration of their antitumor effects. more...

Gene expression profiling of triple negative breast cancer, normal ductal cells, and normal tissues

(Submitter supplied) To identify novel molecular targets for triple negative breast cancer (TNBC), we have employed whole genome microarray expression profiling. We purified 30 surgically resected breast cancer tissue diagnosed triple negative by means of immunohistochemical staining and 13 normal mammary ductal cells with lasermicrobeam microdissection system (PALM MicroBeam, Carl Zeiss MicroImaging Co., Ltd), performed whole human genome microarray, and compared gene expression levels of TNBC, normal mammary ductal cells, and normal vital organs to develop molecular targets with a minimum risk.

Circadian expression data of Synechococcus in WT, rpoD6-null, sasA-null and rpaA-null strains

(Submitter supplied) In the unicellular cyanobacterium, Synechococcus elongatus PCC 7942, most genes show rhythmic expression controlled by the Kai-based clock under continuous light conditions (LL). We found that rpoD6-null mutants impaired expression of clock-controlled genes peaking at hours 8-10 in LL, while sasA-null or rpaA-null mutants each arrested the expression profiles at subjective dawn.

Salmonid host response to Hematopoietic Necrosis virus: cellular receptors, viral control and novel pathways of defence

(Submitter supplied) The transcriptional response of Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) to infectious hematopoietic necrosis (IHN) virus was elucidated using 16,008 gene GRASP cDNA microarrays. S. salar were exposed to the IHN virus in a waterborne challenge, and kidney samples from five fish sampled on each of days 0, 1, 5 and 9 were analysed in the microarray study. Validation of nine of the significant genes was conducted on fish sampled on alternate days from 1 to 13 and compared to the unchallenged control sampled on day 0. more...
