Extraction protocol |
Muscle was homogenized in Trizol with Polytron motor driven homogenizer and RNA extraction carried out using Trizol protocol (Invitrogen). Hybridization, washing, staining and scanning of the arrays were performed according to manufacturer's instructions (Affymetrix).

Data processing |
All array data were normalized using RMA and the Microarray Suite version 5.0 (MAS 5.0) algorithm to a global scaling intensity of 100. Data were filtered using present/absent calls. Probes called absent by MAS 5.0 across all arrays were discarded.
