Title Time series RNA-Seq of the olfactory epithelia of the mouse
Organism Mus musculus
Experiment type Expression profiling by high throughput sequencing
Summary A series of RNA-Seq experiment were conducted to study the transcriptome changes of olfactory sensory neurons during the critical period. We conducted RNA-seq of the olfactory epithelia at P0, P3, P7, P14, and P21 to identify the gene expression changes in the olfactory epithelia. We also performed RNA-Seq experiment of the olfactory epithelia from Kir2.1 transgenic mice at the same time points to understand the effect of neural activity deprivation on the transcriptome.

Overall design For wildtype animal experiment, mouse olfactory epithelia samples from 4 replicates of P0 mice, 3 replicates of P3 mice, 3 replicates of P5 mice, 4 replicates of P7 mice, 3 replicates of P10 mice, 3 replicates of P14 mice, and 3 replicates of P21 mice. For Kir2.1 experiment, 4 replicates of P0 Kir2.1 mice, 3 replicates of P3 Kir2.1 mice, 3 replicates of P5 mice, 4 replicates of P7 Kir2.1 mice, 4 replicates of P10 Kir2.1 mice, 3 replicates of P14 Kir2.1 mice, and 3 replicates of P21 Kir2.1 mice were used.
