Manufacture protocol PCR amplified cDNA of ~16,800 individual clones from the NIH Mammalian Genome Collection with sucrose cresol dye for visualization were denatured with NaOH and spotted onto S&S Nytran SuperCharge nylon membranes ~12cm X 8cm. Twenty-four 384 well plates are printed using a BioRobotics MicroGrid II Arrayer with a 384 pin head. Each of the 384 sub-arrays is a 5X5 grid of 24 spots and 1 blank.

Description The goal of the Mammalian Gene Collection (MGC), a trans-NIH initiative, is to provide full-length open reading frame (FL-ORF) clones for human, mouse, and rat genes. In 2005, the project added the cow cDNAs generated by Genome Canada. Initially, cDNA libraries provided the source of the clones. Recently, alternative methods based on gene-specific amplification have been developed to target the recovery of human and mouse genes absent from the MGC collection.
