Spared nerve injury model of peripheral neuropathic pain: dorsal horn of spinal cord

Analysis of adult and neonatal dorsal horns of spinal cords 7 days after spared nerve injury (SNI). SNI is a model for neuropathic pain (NP). Partial peripheral nerve injury in adults result in NP-like hypersensitivity, but not in neonates. Results provide insight into the molecular basis of NP.

Adult and Neonatal dorsal horn gene expression 7 day post sciatic nerve SNI injury

(Submitter supplied) As rats do not develop neuropathic pain like hypersensitivity as neonates post nerve injury but do as adults we have used these arrays to help define the processes involved in this process. Rat spinal cord (ipsilateral dorsal horn) was assayed 7 days post SNI injury to the sciatic nerve relative to sham injury. Two age groups of animals were tested Neonates (P10) and Adult (8-12wks). Transcriptomic analysis of adult mouse spinal cord tissue in the control of HDAC4 during inflammatory pain

(Submitter supplied) The goal of this study was to evaluate the role of HDAC4 in spinal sensitization. We analyzed gene expression changes associated with the subcellular localization of HDAC4 in the spinal cord dorsal horn following CFA-induced inflammatory pain. The analysis was performed in basal conditions and after intraplantar injection of CFA to the hind paw of mice that received intraspinal injection of rAAV-constructs influencing the subcellular localization of HDAC4.

Algesic activity of the human coronavirus OC43 derived peptide

(Submitter supplied) The human coronavirus OC43 is responsible for 15-30% of seasonal “common cold” infections with typically mild respiratory symptoms. We demonstrated that the coronavirus OC43 derived small peptide encoded by the viral p65 proteins may exhibit molecular mimicry with the pro-algesic fragment of Myelin Basic Protein (MBP).
