DELAY OF GERMINATION 1 plays a role in Arabidopsis seed maturation

(Submitter supplied) We analysed the transcriptome of dry seeds (the end product of seed maturation) of three genotypes with different DOG1 expression levels. These included the WT Ler (low DOG1 expression), the near isogenic line NILDOG1-Cvi (strong DOG1 expression) and the non-dormant dog1-1 mutant (absence of DOG1 expression). NILDOG1-Cvi is the Ler WT containing an introgression of the Cvi accession on chromosome 5, which includes the DOG1 gene (Bentsink et al., 2006). more...

Transmission of xanthomonads to Medicago truncatula seeds

(Submitter supplied) Plant pathogenic bacteria disseminate and survive through transmission to and by seeds of hosts and non-hosts plants. RNA sequencing of tomato seed tissues during seed development

(Submitter supplied) During maturation seeds acquire several physiological traits to enable them to survive drying and disseminate the species. Few studies have addressed the regulatory networks controlling acquisition of these traits at the tissue level particularly in endospermic seeds such as tomato, which matures in a fully hydrated environment and does not undergo maturation drying. Using temporal RNA-seq analyses of the different seed tissues during maturation, gene network and trait-based correlations were used to explore the transcriptome signatures and identify hubs associated with desiccation tolerance, longevity, germination under water stress and dormancy.

Re-establishment of desiccation tolerance by PEG in germinated Arabidopsis thaliana seeds

(Submitter supplied) Mature seeds of Arabidopsis thaliana are desiccation tolerant, but they lose DT while progressing to germination. Yet, there is a small developmental window during which DT can be rescued by treatment with polyethylene glycol (PEG). We used microarrays to identify relevant genes in the re-establishment of desiccation tolerance by PEG.
