Membrane-associated transcripts in Arabidopsis; their isolation...

(Submitter supplied) Membrane-associated, integral membrane and secreted proteins are of key importance in many cellular processes. For most of the 28 952 predicted proteins in Arabidopsis, the actual subcellular localisation has not been demonstrated experimentally. So far, their potential membrane-association has been deduced from algorithms that predict transmembrane domains and signal peptides. However, the comprehensiveness and accuracy of these algorithms is still limited. more...

Yeast Membrane Bound Polysome

(Submitter supplied) Set of arrays organized by shared biological context, such as organism, tumors types, processes, etc. mRNA species bound to membrane-associated polysomes were separated from other mRNAs by sedimentation equilibrium or sedimentation velocity. The distribution of individual transcripts in the 'membrane-bound' and 'cytosolic' fractions was quantitated for thousands of genes by hybridization to DNA microarrays. more...

Global gene expression in Atss3 mutant and WT over short day diurnal cycle

(Submitter supplied) The Atss3 mutant and WT plants were arranged according to a Randomized Complete Block Design. The plants were planted in rows with seven rows in each flat; two plants of the same genotype/pot. Plants were grown under a SD photoperiod (8 h light/16 h dark) in a growth chamber as described. Eight randomly selected rows were harvested for each time point from different flats. Plant material was harvested at five time points in the diurnal cycle (1, 4, 8.5, 12, and 16 h; Time 0 is the beginning of the light period); harvesting was conducted under a green safety light. more...

Evaluation of the performance of the Arabidopsis Pathoarray 464_001: an example of detailed analysis of mutants

(Submitter supplied) The Arabidopsis Pathoarray 464_001 (GPL3638) was used to compare response of wild-type, rps2-101C (Bent et al., 1994; Mindorinos et al., 1994) and ndr1-1 (Century et al., 1995) to Pseudomonas syringae strain expressing avrRpt2. The two mutants are compromised in RPS2-mediated resistance but distinct difference between them has not been described. The results suggested that ndr1-1 affects a defense signaling pathway(s) in addition to the RPS2-dependent pathway, and indicate that the microarray is a powerful tool for systems analysis of the Arabidopsis disease signaling network. more...

Analysis of Arabidopsis thaliana gene expression in response to the bacterial pathogen Pseudomonas syringae ES4326

(Submitter supplied) In order to protect themselves from pathogens, plants activate a battery of defense pathways, many of which involve changes in gene expression. We are interested in identifying plant genes that are differentially expressed in response to pathogen exposure, with the ultimate goal of studying the roles of these genes in plant defense. Disease-specific expression of host genes during downy mildew infection of Arabidopsis

(Submitter supplied) Here we report on the identification of Arabidopsis genes that are induced during compatible but not during incompatible interactions with the downy mildew pathogen Hyaloperonospora arabidopsidis. This set of so-called compatible specific (CS) genes contrasts the large group of defence-associated genes that is differentially expressed during both compatible and incompatible interactions. From the 17 identified CS-genes, 6 belong to the ERF family of transcription factor genes, suggesting that these ERFs have a role during compatibility. more...

The Arabidopsis thaliana transcriptome in response to Agrobacterium tumefaciens

(Submitter supplied) The pathogen Agrobacterium tumefaciens infects a broad range of plants, introducing the T-DNA into their genome. Contrary to all known bacterial phyto-pathogens, Agrobacterium lacks the hypersensitive response-inducing HRP genes although it introduces numerous proteins into the plant cell through a type IV secretion system. To understand the timing and extent of the plant transcriptional response to this unusual pathogen, we used an Arabidopsis 26-thousand gene oligonucleotide microarray. more...

Agrobacterium tumefaciens infection effect on cells: time course

Analysis of LER cells up to 48 hours after infection with oncogenic Agrobacterium tumefaciens (A.t.). Unlike all known bacterial phytopathogens, broadly-infectious A.t. lacks the hypersensitive response-inducing HRP genes. Results identify the host transcriptional response to this unusual pathogen.
