3,4-dihydroxy-2-butanone-4-phosphate synthase
3,4-Dihydroxy-2-butanone 4-phosphate is biosynthesised from ribulose 5-phosphate and serves as the biosynthetic precursor for the xylene ring of riboflavin. Sometimes found as a bifunctional enzyme with Pfam:PF00925. [1]. 9211332. Biosynthesis of riboflavin: 3,4-dihydroxy-2-butanone. -4-phosphate synthase.. Richter G, Krieger C, Volk R, Kis K, Ritz H, Gotze E, Bacher A;. Methods Enzymol 1997;280:374-382. (from Pfam)
GTP cyclohydrolase II
GTP cyclohydrolase II catalyses the first committed step in the biosynthesis of riboflavin. [1]. 8320220. Biosynthesis of riboflavin: cloning, sequencing, mapping, and. expression of the gene coding for GTP cyclohydrolase II in. Escherichia coli.. Richter G, Ritz H, Katzenmeier G, Volk R, Kohnle A, Lottspeich. F, Allendorf D, Bacher A;. J Bacteriol 1993;175:4045-4051. (from Pfam)
RibB (DHBP synthase) catalyzes the formation of 3,4-dihydroxy-2-butanone-4-phosphate synthase in riboflavin biosynthesis. Many members of the family are bifunctional, involving both ribA and ribB function. In these cases, ribA tends to be on the C-terminal end of the protein and ribB tends to be on the N-terminal.
