EamA family transporter

This family includes many hypothetical membrane proteins of unknown function. Many of the proteins contain two copies of the aligned region. The family used to be known as DUF6. Members of this family usually carry 5+5 transmembrane domains, and this domain attempts to model five of these. (from Pfam)

EamA family transporter

EamA family transporter is an inner membrane protein involved in the transport of one or more of a variety of substrates such as amino acids, drugs, metabolites, and sugar phosphates, among others; similar to the chloramphenicol sensitivity protein RarD, which contains two EamA domains; belongs to the DMT (drug/metabolite transporter) superfamily

EamA family transporter RarD

RarD, a putative transporter of unknown function, has two copies of the EamA (previously DUF6) domain that occurs in many known transporters.
