chorismate-binding protein

This family includes the catalytic regions of the chorismate binding enzymes anthranilate synthase, isochorismate synthase, aminodeoxychorismate synthase and para-aminobenzoate synthase. salicylate synthase

Members of this protein family are salicylate synthases, bifunctional enzymes that make salicylate, in two steps, from chorismate. Members are homologous to anthranilate synthase component I from Trp biosynthesis. Members typically are found in gene regions associated with siderophore or other secondary metabolite biosynthesis. Examples with context-specific names include MbtI from mycobactin biosynthesis, YbtS (Irp9) from yersiniabactin biosynthesis, and NbtS from nocobactin NA biosynthesis pathways.
