Definition

localized reduction of blood flow to brain tissue due to arterial obstruction or systemic hypoperfusion; frequently occurs in conjunction with brain hypoxia, which is reduction in brain oxygen supply; severe hypoxia is referred to as anoxia. [from CRISP]
