Human biopsies taken from colonoscopy procedures were placed in RNA Later solution and then stored in -80ºC freezer until RNA extraction.

Total RNA for microarrays was obtained using Mirvana microRNA Kit (Life Technologies Carlsbad, CA) according to manufacturer instructions, and RNA integrity was evaluated with the High Sensitivity RNA Analysis Kit (Advanced Analytical Technologies Ankeny, IA).

Fifty nanograms of total RNA were amplified as directed in the NuGEN Ovation Pico WTA System and 5 μg of amplified cDNA was enzymatically labeled using the Agilent SureTag DNA Labeling Kit.

For each sample, 3 ug of Cy3 labeled cDNA was hybridized for 17 hours in a rotating hybridization oven.
