Title |
Whole kidney transcriptome of the rat after 3 days water restriction |
Organism |
Rattus norvegicus |
Experiment type |
Expression profiling by high throughput sequencing
|
Summary |
The aim of this study is to find genes with differential expression in the kidney when the organism has reduced water intake. Animals either had access to water ad libitum or had no access to water for 3 days. The whole kidney was sequenced to gain a comprehensive view of renal gene expression. Differentially expressed genes may be involved in the renal response to dehydration. This dataset is useful to compare to other whole kidney transcriptome datasets to find conserved gene expression responses.

Overall design |
The whole kidney transcriptome of the rat was elucidated using RNAseq. Kidneys were dissected from rats belonging to either the control group (water ad libitum) or the dehydration group (3 days water restriction). Gene expression was compared across the groups to find osmoregulatory genes.
