Title |
Histological Pattern of Tumor Inflammation and Stromal Density Correlate with Patient’s Demographics and Immuno-Oncologic Transcriptional Profile in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma |
Organism |
Homo sapiens |
Experiment type |
Expression profiling by array

Summary |
The aim of this work is to demonstrate the correlation of Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma (OSCC) tumor inflammation and stromal density with patient demographics and with the differential gene expression (DGE) analysis of 8 OSCC tumor tissue. Using the IO-360 nanoString platform, we showed that at a transcriptional level, decreased cytokine signaling and activation of oncogenic pathways were observed in immune excluded tumors and absence of peritumoral stromal inflammation. Smokers, and males correlated with decreased global levels of immune cells and predominance of myeloid populations.

Overall design |
Under an Institutional Review Board (IRB) approved protocol at the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) (HP-00073603), whole excision tumor tissues were collected prospectively at the day of surgery from 87 OSCC upon informed patient consent. Among the 87 tissue samples, 8 were used for RNA extraction and were processed and analyzed using nCounter Human Pan Cancer IO-360 code set + panel standard cat # XT-CSPS-HIO360-12 and Master Kit-NAA-AKIT-012 platform that was purchased from nanoString Technology (Seattle, WA). 160 366480)
Please note that, while the samples are same as GSE163131 samples, a new record has been created due to additional characteristics which are not relevant to the GSE163131-associated publication.
