Title |
scRNA-seq of aged Drosophila midgut under methionine restriction |
Organism |
Drosophila melanogaster |
Experiment type |
Expression profiling by high throughput sequencing
|
Summary |
Methionine restriction is known to extend lifespan in various model organisms including Drosophila melanogaster. In this analysis, we performed scRNAseq of Drosophila female midgut samples to understand the cell type specific response to methionine restriction.

Overall design |
The midgut samples were obtained from young (day5), aged (5 weeks old), or aged flies fed with methionine-restricted diet for four weeks. Methionine restriction was achieved by reducing 90% of dietary methionine using the chemically defined diet, which has 40% of all amino acids compared to the original recipe. This resulted in the 1.6 mM methionine in the control, which 0.16mM methionine in the restricted diet.
