Title A male-derived non-ribosomal peptide pheromone controls female schistosome development II
Organism Schistosoma mansoni
Experiment type Expression profiling by high throughput sequencing
Summary βAlanyl-tryptamine (BATT) is a peptide secreted by male S. mansoni upon pairing with a female parasite. Treatment of synthetic BATT on virgin females wihtout any pairing is sufficient to induce sexual development and egg depostiion.

Overall design RNA sequencing of virgin female schistosome parasites after 8 days of culturing in ABC169 media supplemented with 5 µM BATT or βAlanine
