Title Methylation clocks for age estimation in toothed whales and dolphins

Summary An Infinium microarray platform (GPL28271, HorvathMammalMethylChip40) was used to generate DNA methylation data from several tissues (skin, blood) in toothed whales and dolphins.
Tissues: skin and blood.
 
Overall design N=545 tissue samples from 9 different toothed whale species were profiled on the mammalian methylation array platform (GPL28271). N= 238 skin tissue. The remaining samples come from blood (N=283), blubber (N=5), heart (2), kidney (2), liver (2), lung (2), lymphnode (2), muscle (2), pancreas (2), spleen (3), testis (1), thyroid (1). We profiled samples from the following 9 different toothed whale species whose Latin names are as follows: Cephalorhynchus commersonii (Commerson's dolphin), Delphinapterus leucas (Beluga), Delphinus delphis (Common dolphin), Globicephala macrorhynchus (Short-finned pilot whale), Lagenorhynchus obliquidens (Pacific white-sided dolphin), Orcinus orca (Killer whale), Phocoena phocoena (Harbor porpoise), Steno bredanensis (Rough-tooth dolphin), Tursiops truncatus (Bottlenose dolphin).
