Title Genome Methylation Predicts Age and Longevity of Bats

Summary An Infinium microarray platform (GPL28271, HorvathMammalMethylChip40) was used to generate DNA methylation data from several tissues in several bat species.
Tissues: skin (wing punches), liver, brain, skeletal muscle.
 
Overall design N=860 tissue samples from 28 different bat species were profiled on the mammalian methylation array platform (GPL28271). N=796 of these samples come from wing punches (skin tissue). The remaining samples come from brain (N=9), liver (N=17), muscle (N=17). Due to quality issues N=28 samples were omitted from the analysis, see the characteristic variable CanBeUsedForAgingStudies. We profiled samples from 28 different bat species whose Latin names are as follows: Antrozouspallidus, Artibeusjamaicensis, Carolliaperspicillata, Cynopterusbrachyotis, Desmodusrotundus, Eidolonhelvum, Eptesicusfuscus, Leptonycterisyerbabuenae, Molossusmolossus, Myotisbrandtii, Myotislucifugus, Myotismyotis, Myotisvivesi, Nyctalusnoctula, Nycticeiushumeralis, Phyllostomusdiscolor, Phyllostomushastatus, Pteropusgiganteus, Pteropushypomelanus, Pteropuspoliocephalus, Pteropuspumilus, Pteropusrodricensis, Pteropusvampyrus, Rhinolophusferrumequinum, Rhynchonycterisnaso, Rousettusaegyptiacus, Saccopteryxbilineata, Tadaridabrasiliensis. Gene annotations for the microarray for ten bat genomes are available from the Digital Repository at the University of Maryland (DRUM) at http://hdl.handle.net/1903/26373 .
N=48 wing punch samples from different bat species were profiled on the mammalian methylation array platform (GPL28271). We profiled samples from different bat species whose Latin names are as follows: Eptesicus fuscus, Phyllostomus hastatus, Carollia perspicillata. Gene annotations for the microarray for ten bat genomes are available from the Digital Repository at the University of Maryland (DRUM) at http://hdl.handle.net/1903/26373 .
