Title RNA-seq expression profiling of stromal and epithelial cell subpopulations from human breast tissue
Organism Homo sapiens
Experiment type Expression profiling by high throughput sequencing
Summary Human breast samples were obtained from eight women with pathologically normal breast tissue and from three women with BRCA2 mutations. Total RNA was extracted from sorted luminal progenitor (Lin?/CD29lo/CD24+), mature luminal (Lin?/CD29hi/CD24+), basal and stromal cell populations.

Overall design Mammary cell subpopulations were sorted from breast tissue from each of 11 individuals, three carrying BRCA2 mutations and eight with normal breast tissue. For one normal individual, tissue samples were obtained from both left and right breasts. Epithelial populations (basal, LP and ML) were sorted from all samples and, in addition, stroma cells were sorted from 6 of the normal samples. All RNA sample were profiled by RNA-seq.
