Title |
Effects of exercise training on skeletal muscle insulin sensitivity in obesity patients undergoing RYGB surgery: a randomized controlled trial |
Organism |
Homo sapiens |
Experiment type |
Expression profiling by high throughput sequencing
|
Summary |
We reported that skeletal muscle insulin sensitivity was restored to a lean phenotype with exercise training in patients undergoing RYGB surgery. For that, the goals of this study is to identify changes in the skeletal muscle transcriptome profiling (RNA-seq) that could explain the insulin sensitivity improvement of RYGB + exercise training group.

Overall design |
Women patients with morbid obesity were undergone to RYGB and randomized to exercise training or not. Muscle biopsies were assessed before the RYGB surgery (PRE) and 9-month after RYGB surgery in both groups (RYGB and RYGB + exercise training). At baseline (PRE), muscle samples from lean control women were obtained as well.
