Title Effect of IL-1b on primary human skin-relevant cells
Organism Homo sapiens
Experiment type Expression profiling by high throughput sequencing
Summary Analyses of IL-1b-induced transcriptome in various skin-relevant cell types (keratinocytes, dermal fibroblasts, dermal microvascular endothelial cells, mononuclear immune cells) by RNASeq method disclosed an overlap of upregulated molecules among the different cell types. Matching cellular IL-1 receptor levels, dermal fibroblasts showed both the strongest and broadest IL-1b response.

Overall design Primary human keratinocytes, fibroblasts and microvascular endothelial cells derived from human healthy skin as well as mononuclear immune cells separated from the blood of healthy donors were cultured in the absence (control) or presence of recombinant human IL-1b for 24h.
