The 12k2 arrays are printed on CMT-UltraGAPS substrates (Corning Inc, Acton, MA) using a SpotArray 72 microarrayer (Perkin Elmer, Boston, MA). There are 26812 spots and 836 blanks on each array in a 12 row by 4 column arrangement of blocks. Each block contains 560 spots and 16 blanks arrayed in a 24 row by 24 column grid. The blanks occupy positions 9 through 24 of the 24th row. The blocks are spaced at 4500 micron intervals and the spot-to-spot distance is 180 microns. The nominal spot diameter is 125 microns. Printing conditions and post-print treatments are as described earlier (Neal et al., 2003).

Description
The CDMC_Drosophila_12k2 platform is a primarily cDNA-based glass microarray. The array features 10,844 Berkeley Drosophila Genome Project cDNAs, 231 NIH Testis cDNAs (Andrews et al., 2000) and 360 gene sequences that were amplified from genomic DNA. All of the features on the array are spotted in duplicate. This array is produced by the Canadian Drosophila Microarray Centre located at the University of Toronto. It is available for distribution to academic labs.
