Oxidized low-density lipoprotein effect on LOX-1 overexpressing aortic endothelial cell line HAECT: time course

Analysis of oxidized-low-density lipoprotein receptor-1 (LOX-1)-overexpressing HAECT cells treated with OxLDL for up to 24 hrs. OxLDL is implicated as a proatherogenic factor. Results provide insight into molecular mechanisms underlying OxLDL-induced endothelial dysfunction and atherosclerosis.

LOX-1-dependent transcriptional regulation after oxidized LDL (OxLDL) treatment of human aortic endothelial cells.

(Submitter supplied) LOX-1 is the primary endothelial receptor for oxidized LDL in endothelial cells and plays a role in the development of atherosclerosis. Expression profiling was carried out on samples from HAECT cells over-expressing either LOX-1 or GFP control and treated with or without OxLDL over a time course of 2, 6, 12 and 24 Hours. The goal of the study was to identify genes expression changes activated by OxLDL binding to LOX-1 at several different time points.

Juvenile obesity in Ossabaw swine produces artery-specific transcriptional changes

(Submitter supplied) We adopted a transcriptome-wide microarray analysis approach to determine the extent to which vascular gene expression is altered as a result of juvenile obesity and identify obesity-responsive mRNAs. We examined transcriptional profiles in the left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD), perivascular fat adjacent to the LAD, and descending thoracic aorta between obese (n=5) and lean (n=6) juvenile Ossabaw pigs (age=22 weeks). more...

Lectin-like oxidized low-density receptor-1 attenuates pneumonia-induced lung injury

(Submitter supplied) Identifying host factors that contribute to pneumonia incidence and severity are of utmost importance to guiding the development of more effective therapies. Lectin-like oxidized low-density lipoprotein receptor-1 (LOX-1) is a scavenger receptor known to promote vascular injury and inflammation, but it is unknown whether and how LOX-1 functions in the lung. Here, we provide evidence of substantial accumulation of LOX-1 in the lungs of ARDS patients and in mice with pneumonia. more...

Effect of endothelial ADAM10 deficiency on the aorta in an atherosclerosis mouse model

(Submitter supplied) Mice lacking ADAM10 in endothelial cells (Tie2Cre driven) and flox-control mice were injected with an AAV8-PCSK9 virus and put on a Western-type diet for 10 weeks to induce atherosclerosis. Aorta's (Thoracoabdominal) were isolated (removal of PVAT) and processed for RNA-sequencing.

A Transcriptional Signature and Common Gene Networks Link Cancer with Metabolic Syndrome and Auto-immune Diseases

(Submitter supplied) Epidemiological studies have revealed concurrence of specific cancers with other disease states such as metabolic syndrome, inflammatory disease and autoimmune disease. Patients with these chronic conditions have a higher incidence of various cancers, more aggressive tumors, and a higher mortality rate. It has been proposed that obesity, inflammation and chronic disease should be correlated with cancer at the molecular level, but common gene signatures or networks have yet to be described. more...
