Allergic nasal epithelium response to house dust mite allergen in vitro

Analysis of cultured nasal epithelia prepared from healthy and allergic individuals following exposure to house dust mite (HDM) extract in vitro. Results provide insight into the molecular mechanisms underlying the allergic response of the nasal epithelia to allergens.

Primary nasal epithelium exposed to house dust mite extract shows activated expression in allergics

(Submitter supplied) Response to allergen was studied in epithelial cells derived from allergic pantients and from healthy controls. Cells were cultured after isolation from a nasal biopsy. Cells were exposed to Housed dust mite or vessel (saline) Microarray data was analysed using bioinformatics and biostaistics. We conclude that a marked difference in basal expression and in response to hous dust mite exists Keywords: cellular response to allergen

Allergen induced gene expression of airway epithelial cells shows a possible role for TNF-α

(Submitter supplied) Response to allergen was studied in bronchial epithelial cell line H292. Cells were cultured and subsequently exposed to House dust mite or vessel (saline) Microarray data was analysed using bioinformatics and biostastics. We find a strong response to allergen in epithelial cells Keywords: cellular response to allergen

House dust mite extract effect on a bronchial epithelial cell line

Analysis of H292 bronchial epithelial cells exposed to house dust mite (HDM) extract. More than just a physical barrier, epithelium can produce mediators in response to pathogens and allergens. Results provide insight into the nature of the response of bronchial epithelial cells to HDM allergen.

Effects of allergen challenge on airway epithelial cell gene expression

(Submitter supplied) Allergen exposure induces the airway epithelium to produce chemoattractants, proallergic interleukins, matrix-modifying proteins, and proteins that influence the growth and activation state of airway structural cells. These proteins, in turn, contribute to the influx of inflammatory cells and changes in structure that characterize the asthmatic airway. To use the response of the airway epithelium to allergen to identify genes not previously associated with allergic responses, we compared gene expression in cytokeratin-positive cells before and after segmental allergen challenge. more...

Epigenetic changes in B lymphocytes associated with house dust mite allergic asthma.

(Submitter supplied) The increase in atopic diseases has occurred in such a short period of time that it becomes difficult to be attributed only to genetic factors, which usually need more prolonged time periods to manifest. In this setting during the last decade, the science of epigenetics has increasingly developed offering new perspectives and opening a new challenging research area. In this study we aimed to study the epigenetic patterns in B CD19+ Lymphocytes from healthy and allergic patients using the improved version of HELP assay. more...
