Digital Gene Expression Analysis Based on Integrated De Novo Transcriptome Assembly of Sweet Potato [Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam.]

(Submitter supplied) More than 3.5 million raw DGE tags were obtained in each library. The clean tags in each sample ranged from 3.35 to 3.63 million, and the distinct clean tags ranged from 93,593 to 139,389. The 21 bp DGE clean tags were mapped to sweet potato transcripts. Then, we compared 7 libraries pair-wisely so that 21 pairs of comparisons were implemented. Among these comparisons, we found that 4,721 to 12,151 transcripts had significant changes in expression, and the average number was 9,657. more...

Transcriptome profiling and digital gene expression analysis of sweet potato challenged with Fusarium oxysporum f. sp.batatas.

(Submitter supplied) we performed de novo transcriptome assembly and digital gene expression (DGE) profiling analyses of sweet potato challenged with Fob using Illumina Hiseq technology. A total of 89,944,188 clean reads were generated and were assembled into 101,988 unigenes with an average length of 666bp, 62,605(61.38%) of them were functional annotated in the non-redundant(nr) protein database from NCBI by using BLASTX with a cut-off E-value of 10-5, and COG,GO and KEGG annotations were examined for better understand their functions. more...

De novo assembly and transcriptome analysis of two different starch content Ipomoea batatas cultivars

(Submitter supplied) In this study, we compared the root transcriptomes between high and low starch content species in three different growth and development periods. This provided a new perspective and resources for the molecular mechanisms study of storage root formation and development process.

Global transcriptome analysis of orange wheat blossom midge, Sitodiplosis mosellana (Gehin) (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae) to identify candidate transcripts regulating diapause

(Submitter supplied) Many insects enter a developmental arrest (diapause) that allows them to survive harsh seasonal conditions. Despite the well-established ecological significance of diapause, the molecular basis of this crucial adaptation remains largely unresolved. Sitodiplosis mosellana (Gehin), the orange wheat blossom midge (OWBM), causes serious damage to wheat throughout the northern hemisphere, and sporadic outbreaks occur in the world. more...

The brain transcriptome of the wolf spider, Schizocosa ocreata

(Submitter supplied) The goal of this study was to lay the groundwork for comparative transcriptomics of sex differences in the brain of wolf spiders, a non-model organism of the pyhlum Euarthropoda, by generating transcriptomes and analyzing gene expression. To examine differences in sex-differential gene expression, short read transcript sequencing and de novo transcriptome assembly were performed. Messenger RNA (mRNA) was isolated from dissected brain tissue of male and female subadult and mature wolf spiders (Schizocosa ocreata). more...

Transcriptomic analysis of the trade-off between endurance and burst-performance in the frog Xenopus allofraseri

(Submitter supplied) Background: Variation in locomotor capacity among animals often reflects adaptations to different environments. Despite evidence that physical performance is heritable, the molecular basis of locomotor performance and performance trade-offs remains poorly understood. In this study we identify the genes, signaling pathways, and regulatory processes responsible for the trade-off between burst performance and endurance observed in Xenopus allofraseri, using a transcriptomic approach. more...
