Non-diseased lung tissue

Analysis of non-diseased lungs from 23 multi-organ donors. Upper and lower lobe peripheral sections of the lung were examined. Donors varied in age, sex, smoking history, and ethnicity. Results provide a reference for microarray studies of pulmonary disease.

Gene expression differences between high and low exploratory genetically identical mice

(Submitter supplied) Genetically identical inbred mice exhibit substantial stable individual variability in exploratory behavior. We used microarrays to look at gene expression differences in the hippocampus in female mice separated by stable differences in exploratory behavior

Gene expression changes related to postnatal handling

(Submitter supplied) Postnatal handling in rodents leads to decreased anxiety-like behavior in adulthood. We used microarrays to look at gene expression differences in the CA1 region of the hippocampus in female mice subjected to postnatal handling compared to controls.

Combining gene expression data from different generations of oligonucleotide arrays

(Submitter supplied) Compatibility between high-density oligonucleotide arrays is significantly affected by probe-level sequence information. With a careful filtering of the probes based on their sequence overlaps, data from different generations of microarrays can be combined more effectively. The dataset of 14 human muscle biopsy samples from patients with inflammatory myopathies that were hybridized on both HG-U95Av2 and HG-U133A human arrays for this purpose. more...

Simple ambient preservation of human tissues for RNA expression array analysis

(Submitter supplied) We used quantitative RNA expression profiling on the Affymetrix U133 human expression array to validate quantitative expression results obtained with the tissue preservative RNALater against snap frozen and fresh tissues as a means of routine tissue collection and temporary storage. By using split samples from a homogenous tissue (uterine myometrium), and including duplicates within each processing group compared, we were able to undertake a formal ANOVA analysis comparing the magnitude of result variation contributed by sample source (different patients), processing protocol (fresh vs. more...

RNAlater preservative effect on uterine myometrium: time course

Analysis of uterine myometrial tissue specimens stored in RNAlater preservative for 24 or 74 hours at room temperature. Results indicate RNALater did not contribute any systematic shift in quantitative RNA expression results relative to alternative tissue processing methods (fresh, snap-frozen).

Profiling protease and protease inhibitor gene expression in tumors and their microenvironment

(Submitter supplied) To assist in the identification of proteases, their endogenous inhibitors, and proteins that interact with proteases or proteolytic pathways in biological tissues, a dual species oligonucleotide microarray has been developed in conjunction with Affymetrix, Inc. To investigate the performance of the array, gene expression profiles were analyzed in pure mouse and human samples and orthotopically implanted xenografts of human A549 lung and MDA-MB-231 breast carcinomas. more...
