Widespread natural variation of DNA methylation within angiosperms

(Submitter supplied) DNA methylation is a chemical modification of DNA that can be faithfully inherited across generations in flowering plant genomes. Failure to properly maintain DNA methylation can lead to epigenetic variation and transposon reactivation.
