Description

The MITF c.1091A>T variant is predicted to result in the amino acid substitution p.Tyr364Phe. To our knowledge, this variant has not been reported in the literature. This variant is reported in 0.088% of alleles in individuals of African descent in gnomAD (http://gnomad.broadinstitute.org/variant/3-70014230-A-T) and has conflicting interpretations regarding its pathogenicity in ClinVar, ranging from likely benign to uncertain (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/clinvar/variation/667264/). Although we suspect this variant may possibly be benign, at this time its clinical significance is uncertain due to the absence of conclusive functional and genetic evidence.
