Title RNA seq analysis of adult olfactory epithelium exposed to Phenyl ethyl ethanol during early development in zebrafish
Organism Danio rerio
Experiment type Expression profiling by high throughput sequencing
Summary The early exposure to the artificial odorant phenyl ethyl alcohol (PEA) is correlated with odor memory formation and the changes in gene expression in olfactory epithelium of zebrafish. In this study we performed a transcriptomic analysis using RNA seq, in order to compare the gene expression in the olfactory epithelium of adult zebrafish between PEA exposed fish during the early development and non-exposed fish

Overall design In order to measure differential gene expression in olfactory epithelium of adult zebrafish exposed to the odorant Phenyl ethyl alcohol (PEA) during early development, embryos were collected and separated into experimental (PEA exposed) and control groups. Fish were exposed every day for 3 weeks of development to PEA (odorant exposed group) or distilled water (control groups), after which the fish were transferred to a recirculating system until sacrificed at six months after. Olfactory epithelium were collected from ten fish each group and total RNA was isolated using TRIZOL reagent. RNA seq analysis was performed using Illumina Hiseq 2500 system and Differential gene expression was estimated using DESeq2 (v1.24) within SARTools R package (v1.6.9).
