Edit Labels Dialog tutorial
This tutorial will teach you how to edit tree labels.
Step 1: Open the Edit Labels dialog
Open a tree in Tree Viewer.
Click on the Tools drop-down menu and select the Edit Labels menu item.
Edit Labels dialog will be displayed.
Step 2: Use Simple Labels
Labels radio button is selected by default.
List of features available to be shown as labels for the current tree is displayed on the right. By default label is pre-selected. When setting a simple label user can select only one feature as label. Insert text box and button are disabled.
Click on the OK button, and the tree will be redrawn with the newly selected features displayed as labels. User can alternatively click on the Cancel button and close the dialog without changing the label selection.
Step 3: Use Custom Labels
Select the Custom Labels radio button. The same list of features available as labels will still be displayed on the right. Insert text box and button will become enabled.
When working with custom labels you can create your own label being a combination of available features. Select the first feature that yuu would like to display as a label and click the Insert button. Selected feature will be inserted in the text box. Type in the separator (we will use "*"), select the next feature, and click Insert again. Continue until you form the desired label.
Click on the OK button, and the tree will be redrawn with the new custom labels. User can alternatively click on the Cancel button and close the dialog without changing the label selection.
Step 4: Use Maximum Label Length
Maximum Label Length setting is only available for custom labels.
Check the Maximum Label Length check box and type in the desired number of characters for your custom label in the text box on the right.
Click on the OK button, and the tree will be redrawn with the new custom labels truncated to the number of characters specified.
