1 ILLUMINA (Illumina HiSeq 2000) run: 26.6M spots, 5.4G bases, 3.2Gb downloads

Design: RNA was extracted with TRIzol. RNA quantity and quality were assessed with a Bio-Rad Experion Automated Electrophoresis Station, following manufacturer protocol. The cDNA library was generated with TruSeq and then 2x100bp paired-end sequencing was doone on Illumina HiSeq 2000. Libraries were split in half and sequenced two separate lanes.

Potamoprygus anitpodarum is a New Zealand freshwater snail with broad relevance to evolution and ecology. P. anitpodarum is characterized by multiple transitions to asexuality and polyploidy and for having coexisting, phenotypically and ecologically similar diploid sexual and polyploid asexual populations. It is also notable for its coevolving relationship with the sterilizing trematode parasite, Microphallus as well as being a global invasive species. Here we generated RNA-seq data from the body of a diploid female individual from Lake Alexandrina, New Zealand in an effort to include a broad array of individuals and life history stages for transcriptomics.
Sample: Invertebrate sample from Potamopyrgus antipodarum
