The objective was to study gene expression in the prefrontal cortex across the adult age using baboons as a nonhuman primate model. RNA-Seq data was analyzed by Weighted Gene Coexpression Network Analysis (WGCNA), and two modules containing 587 transcripts negatively correlated with age were identified. Overall design: Brain tissues from the prefrontal cortex were collected at necropsy, snap-frozen in liquid nitrogen and stored at -80ºC until use. Total RNA was extracted from tissues to construct cDNA libraries, which were sequenced (2 x 150 bp) on the NovaSeq to profile the brain transcriptomes of these animals.
