show Abstracthide AbstractInsects in the Paraneoptera encompass a large diversity of species spanning three orders of insects (Hemiptera, Thysanoptera and Psocodea). These insects possess a broad range of feeding strategies and thus have a wide array of highly adaptive mouthparts. A lack of resolved phylogenetic relationships within this group currently impedes our understanding of the diversification of this lineage. Here we use phylogenomic data to study the evolution of the Hemipteroid assemblage and resolve several conflicts among previous phylogenetic hypotheses. We generated novel transcriptome data for eleven species.
