SRX5093932: 16S SSU rRNA-seq of beetle: Bembidion decorum
1 ILLUMINA (Illumina MiSeq) run: 4,684 spots, 2.3M bases, 1.5Mb downloads

Design: The V4 region of the 16S SSU rRNA was amplified in PCR reaction. Primers contained index sequences unique for each specimen and Illumina adaptors. Samples were pooled equimolarly and sequenced on Illumina MiSeq platform (v3 chemistry).

Study: How hosts taxonomy, trophy and endosymbionts shape microbiome diversity in beetles
show Abstracthide Abstract
Bacterial communities play a crucial role in biology, ecology and evolution of multicellular organisms. Despite their importance, studies on microbiota of non-model, especially wild organisms, are still insufficient and this concern mainly invertebrates. Here, the microbiome of 24 selected beetle species representing five families (Carabidae, Staphylinidae, Curculionidae, Chrysomelidae and Scarabaeidae) and three trophic guilds (Carnivores, Herbivores and Detritivores) is examined with use of 16S rDNA sequencing on Illumina platform. The aim of the study is to compare microbiota alpha and beta diversity within and among species on various levels of organization, including evaluation of the impact of endosymbiotic bacteria
