SRX18243465: WGS of Stercorarius longicaudus (MKP990)
1 ILLUMINA (HiSeq X Ten) run: 97.4M spots, 29.4G bases, 12.7Gb downloads

Design: PCR-free whole genome shotgun sequencing with IDT dual-index adapters

Study: Phylogenomics of Stercorariidae (skuas and jaegers)
show Abstracthide Abstract
The skuas and jaegers (Stercorariidae) are an enigmatic family of seven seabird species that breed at Arctic and Antarctic latitudes. The phylogenetic relationships amongst the species have been controversial, particularly involving the relationship between the Pomarine Jaeger (Stercorarius pomarinus) and the large skuas formerly placed in the genus Catharacta. In this project, we sequenced the whole genomes of each of the seven recognized species of Stercorariidae in order to clarify the phylogenetic relationships between the species and assess the role of hybridization in the evolutionary history of the group.
Sample: Muscle tissue, collected by Mark Peck, from Royal Ontario Museum
