show Abstracthide AbstractBacteria were isolated from various aquatic habitats in Northern Kentucky that are within suburban, urban to rural locations. Organisms were isolated by serial dilution on solid medias (e.g. Tryptic Soy Agar, and Reasoner's 2A Agar), and those isolates grown at 25 degC. They were purified via quadrant streaks on TSA, and maintained the lab for several months with repeated transfers prior to DNA extractions and whole genome sequencing. The goal of this project was to identify novel environmental isolates from urbanized watersheds, and determine their biochemical and metabolic potential from their genomes.
