show Abstracthide AbstractThe fireweed or Senecio inaequidens - Senecio madagascariensis complex is a group of six closely related species from southern Africa, three of which are considered to be invasive in various parts of the world. Due to their morphological plasticity, taxonomists in the introduced ranges have often struggled with verification of what species are locally present, hampering research into management options. The present study produced a first sequence capture dataset using the Angiosperms353 bait kit of four fireweed species, S. inaequidens, S. madagascariensis, S. skirrhodon, and S. harveianus, to resolve uncertainty in one invasion area and to provide a framework for future expansion of geographic and taxonomic coverage.
