show Abstracthide AbstractThis study investigates the diversity, abundance, and activity of marine diazotrophs in the North Pacific. Samples were collected during two springtime cruises spanning the North Pacific Subtropical Gyre and the North Pacific subtropical-subpolar transition zone. As part of this study, we used Illumina high-throughput sequencing of the nifH gene to investigate the diversity of marine diazotrophs. Partial nifH sequences were generated using nested, degenerate nifH primers (Zani et al. 2000, Zehr and McReynolds 1989).
