show Abstracthide AbstractFinger millet is an important cereal crop in semi-arid regions of the world with excellent grain storage quality and high nutritional quality. To enhance crop improvement efforts, we generated whole genome and transcriptome sequences of finger millet genotype KNE796. For whole genome sequence, genomic DNA was extracted from 14-days old seedlings of KNE796. High molecular weight DNA was used to construct both mate-pair and paired end libraries for Illumina sequencing. For transcriptome sequencing, RNA was extracted from fresh tissues of leaves, flowers, stems, roots and seeds of well-watered and moisture stressed plants. RNA sequencing was also done using Illumina technology.
