SRX792841: Quercus robur DF159 leaves stage A source no treatment replicate 2
1 ILLUMINA (Illumina HiSeq 2000) run: 15.5M spots, 3.1G bases, 2.2Gb downloads

Design: Tru-Seq v2 was used to produce sequences with a read length of 100 bp from paired-end libraries (average insert size 200 bp) which were sequenced using an Illumina HiSeq 2000.

The common oak (Quercus robur L.) expresses an endogenous rhythmic growth with alternating shoot and root flushes. To tackle mechanisms behind this pattern, we performed controlled microcosm experiments using microcuttings of the Q. robur clone DF159. In addition, we tested the effect of inoculation with the ectomycorrhizal fungus Piloderma croceum on the rhythmic growth pattern. Illumina RNA sequencing served to profile transcripts in leaves and lateral roots. This work was part of the research program TrophinOak (www.trophinoak.de) of seven research groups working with oak microcuttings to study gene expression and resource allocation in multitrophic interactions, funded by the DFG, German Research Foundation.
