ERX007391: Whole Genome Sequencing of fission yeast
1 ILLUMINA (Illumina Genome Analyzer II) run: 21.7M spots, 2.3G bases, 1.5Gb downloads

Design: Illumina sequencing of sample "JB871"; library "JB871 140594" for the "S. pombe wild type strains genomes" study.
Submitted by: The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute (SC)
Study: S. pombe wild type strains genomes
show Abstracthide Abstract
Most fission yeast researchers use strains derived from Leupoldâ??s 972 isolate and that was the strain sequenced by the Sanger Institute and defining the reference genome for S. pombe. However, in strain collections all over the world there are over 100 different wild isolates not related to Leupoldâ??s 972 isolate. To date nothing is known about the natural variability existing in wild S. pombe populations. This project aims to sequence 8 new strains of S. pombe and provides insight into the S. pombe variability.
