Figure 7 is a forest plot depicting our meta-analysis on improvement in total/global scores in dementia for trials of any atypical antipsychotic versus haloperidol, a conventional antipsychotic. Two trials of 2.5 to 7.5 mg/day of olanzapine had conflicting results. One had a significant effect of 0.38 for olanzapine, while the other had statistically insignificant results. Regarding quetiapine, one trial found quetiapine statistically superior to haloperidol, while the other found the opposite. One trial of risperidone versus haloperidol found statically insignificant results.
