Summary:
(Crtitical) By presenting a structure-function comparison of the three basic types of muscle, this program is intended as a review of muscle histology. It combines selections of the content, pictures and diagrams of the three individual tapes on each type of muscle prepared by the same author. The breadth of the topic is too substantial to be encapsulated in a meaningful fashion in a 20 minute presentation. In this summarization several factual misstatements have been entered, particularly about the nuclei of skeletal muscle cells, the relationship of the motor endplate with the sarcolemma, the His bundle, and Purkinje cells. As it stands this particular program of the series on histology cannot be recommended.
