dexamethasone-17-carboxamide [Supplementary Concept]
Date introduced: May 14, 1984
Steroids, Fluorinated
Steroids which are substituted with one or more fluorine atoms in any position.
Year introduced: 1974
Steroids
A group of polycyclic compounds closely related biochemically to TERPENES. They include cholesterol, numerous hormones, precursors of certain vitamins, bile acids, alcohols (STEROLS), and certain natural drugs and poisons. Steroids have a common nucleus, a fused, reduced 17-carbon atom ring system, cyclopentanoperhydrophenanthrene. Most steroids also have two methyl groups and an aliphatic side-chain attached to the nucleus. (From Hawley's Condensed Chemical Dictionary, 11th ed)
Year introduced: 1963
Pregnanes
Saturated derivatives of the steroid pregnane. The 5-beta series includes PROGESTERONE and related hormones; the 5-alpha series includes forms generally excreted in the urine.
Year introduced: 1968
Pregnadienetriols
Doubly unsaturated pregnane derivatives substituted with three hydroxy groups anywhere within the ring structure or side chains.
Pregnadienes
Pregnane derivatives containing two double bonds anywhere within the ring structures.
Year introduced: 1973
Polycyclic Compounds
Compounds which contain two or more rings in their structure.
Year introduced: 2005(1974)
Fused-Ring Compounds
Polycyclic compounds with adjacent rings that share the same two adjacent atoms.
Year introduced: 2017
