Antifungal Agents
Substances that destroy fungi by suppressing their ability to grow or reproduce. They differ from FUNGICIDES, INDUSTRIAL because they defend against fungi present in human or animal tissues.
Year introduced: 1967
Antifungal Agents [Pharmacological Action]
14-alpha Demethylase Inhibitors
Compounds that specifically inhibit STEROL 14-DEMETHYLASE. A variety of azole-derived ANTIFUNGAL AGENTS act through this mechanism.
Year introduced: 2011
Drug Resistance, Fungal
The ability of fungi to resist or to become tolerant to chemotherapeutic agents, antifungal agents, or antibiotics. This resistance may be acquired through gene mutation.
Year introduced: 2002
Zineb
An agricultural fungicide of the dithiocarbamate class. It has relatively low toxicity and there is little evidence of human injury from exposure.
Year introduced: 1991(1972)
Tropolone
A seven-membered aromatic ring compound. It is structurally related to a number of naturally occurring antifungal compounds (ANTIFUNGAL AGENTS).
Year introduced: 1991(1975)
Tolnaftate
A synthetic antifungal agent.
Year introduced: 1973(1972)
Salicylanilides
2-Hydroxy-N-phenylbenzamides. N-phenyl substituted salicylamides. Derivatives have been used as fungicides, anti-mildew agents and topical antifungal agents. In concentrated form may cause irritation of skin and mucous membranes.
Year introduced: 1991(1977)
Mycoses
Diseases caused by FUNGI.
Methylmercury Compounds
Organic compounds in which mercury is attached to a methyl group.
Year introduced: 1980
Maneb
Manganese derivative of ethylenebisdithiocarbamate. It is used in agriculture as a fungicide and has been shown to cause irritation to the eyes, nose, skin, and throat.
Fungicides, Industrial
Chemicals that kill or inhibit the growth of fungi in agricultural applications, on wood, plastics, or other materials, in swimming pools, etc.
Year introduced: 1972
Fungi
A kingdom of eukaryotic, heterotrophic organisms that live parasitically as saprobes, including MUSHROOMS; YEASTS; smuts, molds, etc. They reproduce either sexually or asexually, and have life cycles that range from simple to complex. Filamentous fungi, commonly known as molds, refer to those that grow as multicellular colonies.
Flucytosine
A fluorinated cytosine analog that is used as an antifungal agent.
Year introduced: 1987(1972)
Ethylmercury Compounds
Organic mercury compounds in which the mercury is attached to an ethyl group.
Ethylmercuric Chloride
A highly toxic compound used as a fungicide for treating seeds.
Year introduced: 1991(1980)
Captan
One of the phthalimide fungicides.
Year introduced: 1974(1972)
CT2108A [Supplementary Concept]
fatty acid synthase inhibitor as antifungal agents; structure in first source
Date introduced: December 17, 2003
CT2108B [Supplementary Concept]
Strobilurins
Benzene or pyrimidine derivatives of methacrylic acid that block the Qo site of CYTOCHROME B. They are widely used as agricultural fungicides.
Year introduced: 2018
