1.

Tabes Dorsalis

Parenchymatous NEUROSYPHILIS marked by slowly progressive degeneration of the posterior columns, posterior roots, and ganglia of the spinal cord. The condition tends to present 15 to 20 years after the initial infection and is characterized by lightening-like pains in the lower extremities, URINARY INCONTINENCE; ATAXIA; severely impaired position and vibratory sense, abnormal gait (see GAIT DISORDERS, NEUROLOGIC), OPTIC ATROPHY; Argyll-Robertson pupils, hypotonia, hyperreflexia, and trophic joint degeneration (Charcot's Joint; see ARTHROPATHY, NEUROGENIC). (From Adams et al., Principles of Neurology, 6th ed, p726)

2.

Mediodorsal Thalamic Nucleus

The largest of the medial nuclei of the thalamus. It makes extensive connections with most of the other thalamic nuclei.

Year introduced: 2000

3.

Spinal Cord Dorsal Horn

One of three central columns of the spinal cord. It is composed of GRAY MATTER spinal laminae I-VI.

Year introduced: 2015

4.

Dorsal Raphe Nucleus

The dorsal region of the raphe nucleus which is a source of the SEROTONERGIC NEURONS innervating the TELENCEPHALON; DIENCEPHALON; MESENCEPHALON; and RHOMBENCEPHALON.

Year introduced: 2015

5.

Geniculate Bodies

Part of the DIENCEPHALON inferior to the caudal end of the dorsal THALAMUS. Includes the lateral geniculate body which relays visual impulses from the OPTIC TRACT to the calcarine cortex, and the medial geniculate body which relays auditory impulses from the lateral lemniscus to the AUDITORY CORTEX.

6.

bactrocerin-1, Bactrocera dorsalis [Supplementary Concept]

an inducible antimicrobial peptide from pupae of oriental fruit fly Bactrocera dorsalis Hendel

Date introduced: September 30, 2009

7.

Bactrocera dorsalis [Supplementary Concept]

Date introduced: April 12, 2023

8.

Pontine Tegmentum

The dorsal region of pons bounded by the middle CEREBELLAR PEDUNCLES and the ventral part of the pons. It is continuous with the TEGMENTUM MESENCEPHALI and contains CEREBELLAR NUCLEI, lemnisci and RETICULAR FORMATION.

Year introduced: 2015

9.

Neurosyphilis

Infections of the central nervous system caused by TREPONEMA PALLIDUM which present with a variety of clinical syndromes. The initial phase of infection usually causes a mild or asymptomatic meningeal reaction. The meningovascular form may present acutely as BRAIN INFARCTION. The infection may also remain subclinical for several years. Late syndromes include general paresis; TABES DORSALIS; meningeal syphilis; syphilitic OPTIC ATROPHY; and spinal syphilis. General paresis is characterized by progressive DEMENTIA; DYSARTHRIA; TREMOR; MYOCLONUS; SEIZURES; and Argyll-Robertson pupils. (Adams et al., Principles of Neurology, 6th ed, pp722-8)

Year introduced: 1963

10.

Arthropathy, Neurogenic

Chronic progressive degeneration of the stress-bearing portion of a joint, with bizarre hypertrophic changes at the periphery. It is probably a complication of a variety of neurologic disorders, particularly TABES DORSALIS, involving loss of sensation, which leads to relaxation of supporting structures and chronic instability of the joint. (Dorland, 27th ed)

12.

2-allyl-4,5-dimethoxyphenol [Supplementary Concept]

methyl eugenol-derived sex pheromone of the male fruit fly Bactrocera dorsalis (Diptera: Tephritidae); structure in first source

Date introduced: March 3, 2006

13.

Orbilia dorsalis [Supplementary Concept]

Date introduced: October 1, 2020
