Extraction of total RNA was performed using Arcturus PicoPure RNA Isolation kit (Life Technologies, Foster City, CA) according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Average yield from 1000 cells was 3 ng of total RNA. The RNA was amplified using Ovation Pico WTA System (NuGen, San Carlos, CA). Labeling, fragmentation and hybridization to Mouse Genome 430 2.0 Arrays were done according to the manufacturer's instructions (Affymetrix Inc., Santa Clara, CA).

Hybridization protocol |
5 ug of cRNA were hybridized for 16 hr at 45C on GeneChip mouse430_2.0 Genome Array. GeneChips were washed and stained in the Affymetrix Fluidics Station 400.

Scan protocol |
GeneChips were scanned using the Hewlett-Packard GeneArray Scanner G2500A.
