Treatment protocol For ischemic heart disease models, 12-week-old male C57Bl6/J mice were randomized to temporary (ischemia-reperfusion; I/R) or permanent (myocardial infarction; MI) ligation of the left anterior descending (LAD) coronary artery or sham surgery. Three days post-I/R or 8 weeks post-MI, left ventricular (LV) tissues were collected from the area remote of the infarcted myocardium.
